INTRODUCTION
Based on the manga with the same title by Makochin Ishihara,
THE SAN MEI SAMA(which means [TABLE FOR THREE]) started as a live-action drama in 2005.
At the time, it was well received and talked about as it charmed a lot of viewers with its chill, relaxed atmosphere created by the three part-time workers (Sato, Okada, Tsukamoto) who hang out at their usual diner to have a late-night talk.
It gained huge support from enthusiastic fans, and eleven DVDs came out in five years since 2005, including THE SAN MEI SAMA: Single DVD ~Makishichattemo Yokadesuka？～ in 2010. The drama became a big hit with sales of 330,000 copies in total.
STORY
The way of entertainment for visual content has changed with new online streaming platforms as the era moved on from Heisei to Reiwa in Japan. Now, video content is more popular than ever with easy access and casual usage; it is the perfect timing for THE SAN MEI SAMA, a pioneer of a casual short content, to come back with an all-new script by the creator of its original manga, Makochin Ishihara. Furthermore, they are making a film debut coming on to the big screen! The three “kids” around 40 are ready to deliver good laughs with a hardcore yet relaxing comedy to lift your spirit amid an uneasy era to live through.
